Behind The Lens
PlayersVoice and Canon Australia have partnered for a five-part video series Behind The Lens, featuring Australia’s most respected sports photographers detailing how they captured some of the most iconic sports images ever taken, and the inner workings of their craft.
Canon Master photographer Phil Hillyard (News Corp) takes us into the inner sanctum of Australian sports photography to share the images you know, and the stories you don’t with Alex Coppel (News Corp), Cameron Spencer (Getty Images), Ryan Pierse (Getty Images), David Gray (Reuters) and Craig Golding (freelance).
In our final episode of Behind The Lens, Hillyard and his fellow sports photographers chat about the delicate nature of capturing images at golf tournaments. The etiquette of golf dictates you never, ever photograph the players during their pre-shot routine or back swing. However, the rules are sometimes broken in the most amusing ways – especially in countries which are relatively new to the game.
